I tried these guys after going through tons of good and few bad reviews, ordered gearbox for my 99 landcruiser and these guys did live up to expectation. Most notorious problem with them is their lousy customer service which tends to forget your order number, I contacted their manager directly to avoid such issue and it worked perfectly. People complain about their delayed shipment but Ididn’t face this issue, my unit was shipped within a week and it was a near perfect gearbox, so their craftsman ship is undeniable but other facets of their business needs definite improvement.

If you think that bmw dealers don’t offer value for money than try ideal engines, in most cases they charge less than half of what a company dealership will quote. In my case they charged a quarter only for repairing air con unit in my 118d. though atmosphere was a tad like any other well maintained garage, no posh feeling, but their prices and prompt service made up for it.

What Toyota engineers have just found out, ideal engines hinted at that issue two months back with my Avensis. They realigned parcel storage at rear without causing much hassle.

I have read some reviews of about these guys and most of them are totally true. I experienced those issues first hand when I ordered yaris’ engine. The engine when installed seemed and run like a new one, and even today after 2000 good miles it is still reving fine, so these guys know their stuff. But they have no business sense whatsoever, my order was late by full two weeks, transaction was messy, had to call them more than a dozen times to finally get my order. If I have to again place an order I will directly talk with manager instead of sales reps.

If you have tried ideal engines for engine and gearbox reconditioing and faced issues like delayed shipment and jerky transaction, then you arent alone. I faced botht hese problems first hand on my one and only encounter with them BUT no matter how delayed, 1.5 month to be exact, i recieved gearbox for my mini cooper, the unit was totally worth it. almost on every weekend i go on track and rev up to 6 or 7k, and havent noticed any glitch in transmission in last six months, when previously small recurring issues were a norm. i have to give props to these guys on their skills and not on their management.

Well my mini’s gearbox failed on more than one occassions, first time I got a recon one from ideal engines that worked perfectly for next three years and endured dozen of track days but it too eventually failed, these synchros usually falter. Second time i again ordered one from ideal engines but despite a month of wait didnt recieve any, they have some ridiculously lazy finanacing partner, anyhow i got the complete refund and placed a new order directly through phone, this time i got it within a week. despite the delay i have to say they do an immaculate job on reconditioning.

Recently broke my 2000 Shogun sport’s transmission on an amateur expedition:(,I decided to pay some extra and get myself a reconditioned 4×4 unit instead of getting old one repaired. Ideale engines and gearboxes offered me a surprisingly competitve rate for a prestine condition unit,honestly i cant tell the difference between this one and the original unit.

I purchased mazda6 without doing any proper research, thought all japanese motors are reliuable like toyota, well mazda’s diesel is not. Recurring engine issues caused me frequent garage visits untill I discovered ideal engines and purchased a recon engine, things have been a lot smoother ever since.

I installed a reconditioned 1zzfe for my corolla some 4 months back, now I ma back at garage for routine service and checkup, I have to say engine seems as reliable as a new unit. These guys did a pretty neat to be honest. I was thinking of selling this one out but now I am gonna keep it for groceries and kids trips to playgrounds.

Brand new celica engine, well a reconditioned unit swapped with my old one, fitted and warrantied, all within 1500 quid is jaw droppingly impressive. Thanks and cheers.
